Toxic PFAS chemicals are a widespread and growing problem in Michigan. Found in many water resistant materials, plastics, and things like firefighting foam, these “forever chemicals” have contaminated the land and drinking water of communities across our state. Known to cause serious health issues, including cancer, PFAS contamination is a crisis we must address, and quickly.

Most recently, PFAS has been found at multiple locations in the Traverse City area, including in the drinking water of 18 homes in the Pine Grove neighborhood near East Bay. On top of having to deal with contaminated drinking water, these residents have grappled with a lack of transparency, as eight months passed between suspected contamination and when the community was notified.

As we seek to address PFAS contamination and protect Michiganders’ drinking water, join Great Lakes PFAS Action Network, Michigan LCV, For Love of Water (FLOW), and special guest Congresswoman Debbie Dingell for a conversation about how to address the toxic contamination, increase transparency, and hold polluters accountable.
